How much energy do you need for deer?
A widely cited guideline suggests at least 42 ft-lbs of kinetic energy for large game such as whitetail. With a 400 grain arrow, the slowest bow we track (380 FPS) produces about 128 ft-lbs at the muzzle and the fastest (505 FPS) about 227 ft-lbs.

What actually matters for deer hunting
